DirectOut MADI.SRC Madi Samplerate Converter

 

The MADI.SRC offers highest quality sample rate conversion of a complete MADI stream (64 Audio channels) in real-time. The device supports any source and destination sample rates from 30 kHz to 50 kHz and their multiples (48k/96 kFrame, 56/64 channels). High end chips with a THD+N > 140dB and a frequency response linearity better than 0.025 dB guarantee excellent sound quality.

 

Inputs and Outputs are layed out with both optical (SC multi-mode) and coaxial (BNC) connectors and work in parallel. Thus both outputs carry the converted input signal and can be distributed twice. If required the signal format can be converted from/to optical/coaxial by using the SPLIT.CONVERTER.

 

Synchronisation can be achieved via Word Clock or AES3id (AES11), Video Reference (PAL and NTSC), the MADI input signal as well as the internal clock.

 

By activating the extra-ordinary Split Mode, the inputs and outputs can be used in combination to allow for conversion of more than 32 (@ 96 kHz) or 16 (@ 192 kHz) channels, depending on the SRC's setting.

 

The MADI.SRC offers highest reliability through by two phase-redundant power supplies with inlets and switches on the rear panel. For remote access the MADI.SRC supplies a USB port which allows for remote control via Windows software.

 

Application

The MADI.SRC can be used whereever sample rate conversion with highest sound quality is requested. The stream is processed in real-time and all channels provided at the output will be phase and sample accurate to each other.

 

Synchroniser - Due to its comprehensive features, the MADI.SRC is also a versatile device beyond 'simple' sample rate conversion. For instance in an environment where two digital systems do not use the same word clock source (e.g. FOH or OB-Van). The MADI.SRC can be used as decoupling unit to connect both asynchronous systems without any loss in sound quality (see also: press release "Rock am Ring").

 

With the SRC switched off, the device works as a simple format converter and supplies the different MADI formats at the output ports (48k/96k Frame, 56/64 channels).
