MA2CHBOX - 2 Channel MADI Monitor
D.O.TEC® MA2CHBOX is a reference class headphone amplifier for MADI signals. The device provides a standard MADI port (coaxial or optical) and two ExpressCard ports for use with RME MADIface. Any stereo pair out of three MADI streams can be routed to the headphone output. With its excellent sound quality and the straight forward operating concept, MA2CHBOX is the ideal monitoring solution for every MADI setup.
The MADI I/O (Main) is available as coaxial BNC I/O or as optical SC multi-mode transceiver. The ExpressCard I/Os (EC1 and EC2) are fully compatible to MADIface ExpressCards by RME.
The encoder knob on the front panel provides direct access to output volume, channel selection and the setup menu (input port selection, operating mode, samplerate scaling factor, etc.).
Sample rate detection
The device syncs automatically to any incoming MADI signal and operates at all standard samplerates between 44.1 kHz and 192 kHz. The input scaling factor (1FS, 2FS, 4FS) can be set in the setup menu. A 96k Frame signal will be detected and the scaling factor is set to 2 FS automatically then.
Two operating modes
Standard mode: The MADI stream at the Main input is provided at all outputs (Main, EC1 and EC2).
EC mode: The input from one of the EC inputs is copied to the Main output while the Main input is still transmitted to the EC outputs.
The headphone output routing is independent from the operating mode.
Serial data
Serial data (RS-232) can be embedded into the MADI stream and de-embedded from the incoming signal, accessible through the built-in USB port. The embedder functionality can be switched off to process all MADI streams transparently from input to output.
